Laser Hair Removal
overview:
Laser hair removal uses concentrated pulses of light energy to target the melanin pigment within individual hair follicles. The light is absorbed by the follicle and converted into heat, which damages the follicle's ability to produce future hair growth. Over a course of sessions timed to coincide with the hair's natural growth cycle, the treatment progressively reduces hair density until permanent reduction is achieved.
What makes it different:
At Lumière Clinic we use advanced laser platforms effective across a wider range of skin tones than older systems, with built-in cooling mechanisms that make each session significantly more comfortable than traditional laser or IPL treatments. Every course begins with a patch test and a detailed consultation to confirm the most appropriate settings for your skin tone, hair colour, and treatment area.
What to expect:
During treatment the laser handpiece is passed over the treatment area in sections. You will feel a brief, sharp snapping sensation with each pulse — often described as a light flick of a rubber band. The integrated cooling system immediately soothes the skin after each pulse. Sessions range from 15 minutes for small areas such as the upper lip to 60 minutes for larger areas such as full legs. Mild redness may occur for a few hours after treatment.
Suitable for:
Most skin tones and hair colours. Most effective on dark, coarse hair. A consultation is required to assess suitability for very fair, grey, or red hair.
Results:
A gradual and progressive reduction in hair growth with each session. Most clients achieve 80 to 90% permanent hair reduction after a full course of 6 to 8 sessions. Occasional maintenance sessions once or twice a year may be recommended to address any regrowth from dormant follicles.
Duration:
15 – 60 minutes depending on area
